Google Chrome V0.3.154.6
Google Chrome is a fast, secure, and free web browser, built for the modern web. Give it a try on your desktop today. A fast, secure, and free web browser built for the modern web. Chrome syncs bookmarks across all your devices, fills out forms automatically, and so much more.
Since its release in 2008, Google Chrome has gradually come to dominate the web browser market, even on platforms with pre-installed competition. The reasons for that are complex, but one of them is that Google constantly iterates to make Chrome better. At the same time, Mozilla has changed the landscape with its. Let's see if Chrome is still the king of the hill.
Pros Media-heavy pages load and scroll smoothly: Compared to Mozilla Firefox, Chrome has always fared better when it comes to streaming HD video or just loading a lot of images at once. Microsoft's Edge browser has stolen some thunder here lately, but Edge isn't available for Windows 7 (and it's only available on Android and iOS in beta testing form), which puts a serious dent in its audience reach, and its add-on library is relatively tiny. Firefox Quantum has narrowed the gap, but Chrome remains better for video above 1080p and faster than 30 frames per second, unless your PC has recent internal components that can take the load off your central processor - a system called hardware acceleration. If you have that, then Firefox and Chrome are pretty even in our real-world usage testing. Google cloud services are tightly integrated: The browser itself has a Google account log-in dialog.
When you log in, not only can you sync your bookmarks, browsing history and settings from other devices that you run this browser on, but you'll also get logged into Docs, Maps, Gmail, and other Google services. At the same time, you can opt not to sign in to Chrome and just log in to those services on their respective websites. You can sync with Firefox and Safari, but doing so doesn't connect you to anything that resembles Google's cornucopia of cloud services. Cons Privacy settings could be enhanced: While Google constantly works on Chrome's security, its privacy settings could use better organization. Take Firefox's permissions settings, for example.
These are located right off the intuitively labeled 'Privacy & Security' section of the settings tab. You can isolate specific websites that are asking for webcam and microphone access, location data, and the ability to send you in-browser notifications. In each of these four categories, you can delete specific sites, delete all sites in one click, and toggle 'Block' or 'Allow' for each site. Firefox's system is straightforward. In Chrome's settings, you must scroll down to the bottom, click on 'Advanced,' scroll down to the ambiguously labeled 'Content Settings,' click on that, then click on the permissions category that you want to adjust. While Firefox has a prominent Settings button next to each permission category to help guide the user, Chrome's breadcrumb is a tiny arrow. When you enter Chrome's notifications permissions section, you'll see websites listed in sections labeled 'Block' and 'Allow.'
To move a site from one section to the other, you have to click on the three little dots to the right to open a menu that contains a 'Block' option. In Firefox, you get a list of sites that you can sort alphabetically or by block/allow status, the ability to search for a site within this section, and a submenu labeled 'Block' or 'Allow' that you can clearly click on to toggle your preference. Firefox's dialog is also in a compact but expandable window, while Chrome's dialog is in a new browser tab with a lot of wasted space. Elsewhere in Firefox's privacy settings, you can toggle whether or not you want the browser to use your history to generate search suggestions as you type.
You can make Firefox dump your browser history every time you close it, independently from browsing in its version of incognito mode. You can put your browser notifications in a 'do not disturb' mode if you want to stream a movie, for example. Overall, Firefox organizes your browser settings in a much friendlier and more granular way.
Search engine settings could be expanded: By default, the address bar uses Google Search when you type a few words and hit the Enter key. You can choose from a list of alternatives in your settings, but manually adding an additional engine is tedious.
Descargar Popcorn Time V0.3.8.5
In the Search Engine section of your settings menu, you'll have to click on 'Manage Search Engines' and click on the word 'Add.' This word doesn't look like a button because it has no border or colored background, and its positioning is ambiguous enough that you can tell if it's related to the list of defaults above, or the 'Other Search Engines' section below. When you click on Add, you get three entry fields to fill in. The most important one, where you tell Chrome the actual Internet address of the search engine, is labeled 'URL with%s in place of query.' Not intuitive phrasing for most people. In our testing, we had to enter the full URL of the search engine, then add '%s' (without the quotes) to the end.
And unlike Firefox, there is no function to restore the default list of search engines, so if you accidentally delete one, you'll have to go through this process to get it back. Plus, if your default is Google, for example, but you want to do a specific search on Wikipedia from the address bar, there is no quick way to do so. In Firefox, you can just start typing and click on the Wikipedia icon at the bottom of your search suggestions. If you want to remove a default search engine, you have to switch to another one for the removal option to show up.
Google Chrome 6.1
Chrome's search engine management settings feel downright clunky compared to what Firefox offers. Bottom Line The more we dug into Chrome's settings, the more impressed we were with Mozilla Firefox.
And if your computer has hardware acceleration for HD video, then Chrome's historical performance advantage with media handling is more or less eliminated. Chrome's remaining major feature advantage, at least on the desktop, is a single sign-on for its cloud services. If Mozilla's imminent overhaul to the mobile version of Firefox is as comprehensive as what they've done with the desktop version, then Google may find itself playing catch-up like it did nearly a decade ago. The regression bug that reappeared in 0.4.154.18 and described by pgk2008 - citation below - 'Well shucks. It looks like there's a regression bug. I open Chrome, add a new tab, drag that tab to detach it, and as soon as I release the left mouse button, Chrome crashes ('whoa!' Recovery of open tabs does not seem work each time.
This bug existed in the dev version just prior to the latest beta, and it was highlighted as an urgent bug to fix. It was identified as a problem that occurs on tablet PCs, and was fixed for the beta version. It appears that the problem has returned in this dev version.
I have a Lenovo x61t (tablet), Win Vista x64.' - is still there and very annoing. I have a toshiba portege tablet pc with vista buisiness x32. 'Anybody noticed that the 'tab dragging' is more sensitive than in previous beta builds.? Quite a few times when I was switching tabs using the mouse and Chrome thought I was trying to drag the tab instead. It was very pronounced when I was using the dev builds but was fine in the beta builds until now.
' This is consistent and absolutely annoying. This is the first and only set of crashes I have had with Chrome. I was absolutely in love with it because it was far more stable than firefox (except for some annoying quirks with.cfm pages and form resubmission requirements). But these were quirks and not reliability issues.
I am so put off with it over the last few days with crashes happening too often. Especially when I use the touch pad on my laptop, and if I have two tabs or more, I can put bets in vegas for 1:million odds that it will crash within 5 mins. With this release the infamous Error 3 has returned yet again - oddly enough after the new release came through self-update. Nicklas, this is comments section - i.e.
Objective is to provide feedback on improving the product. Beta does not mean alpha, i.e. Major glitches with repeat crashes within 15 minutes of starting chrome are not to be expected. Especially the stability is not supposed to decrease with newer releases - that being the point of subsequent beta releases. BTW, beta testers come in all shapes and sizes. I would strongly recommend that you undertake a complex development project and gain some experience in appreciating the diversity of user base (individuals as well as platforms). Perhaps after than you can begin lecturing people on the purpose of beta release.
Till that point - I would suggest stay with the key objective. Reporting errors, and not trying to pick on other users. Clearly since you have no errors to report - wonder why you even bother to comment? Seriously - ever wonder what the value of your that particular comment was, and how it contributed in improving Chrome?
I have noticed the delay in drop-down lists also. Almost as if it is loading it separately or 'processing' it.
I have been using Chrome since its first release, and never have had stability issues till this release. There have been issues - CPU usages, Flash, cfm pages, form submission, etc. But never compromised the stability. This release crashes like an amateurish software. Sorry, this is not complaining, but simply stating my experience.
The previous version was remarkably good. Is there a way to roll-back the version I have? Or more importantly - can I keep two installations of Chrome: one best known stable beta, and one current beta? And how do I do this - manage completely separate installations including registry entries, etc. With no automatic update on one? Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
K: You may try reverting back to an older version using the method mentioned by Yaroslav at 11:51 AM, November 28, 2008 (see above). I haven't tried it myself through. With regard to the dropdown box issue, there are at least 2 tickets I'm aware of. Please go there and 'star' the issues if you are expericing the same problem. AFAIK, issues with more stars are generally handled faster than ones with less. I'm using Chrome 0.3.154.9 last days.
In order to go back to 0.3.154.9 release: 1. Uninstall Google Chrome via Vista Control Panel 2. Download 0.3.154.9 installer from this link: (this is so called full installer, which does not contain Google Update service) 3. Make sure you don't import bookmarks and passwords from other browser!!! Your passwords and settings should remain safe from uninstalled Chrome.
Except cookies.:( Couldn't restore cookies even from backup file. I had to manually delete Cookies file, cause it didn't want to use the one from newer version. Inside about box it says 'Update server not available', which is fine - guys at Google won't be able to update me to another buggy release:).
Previously Google Chrome worked like a charm but this new release is unstable, noting problems already mentioned here by others: 1) Tab dragging is over-sensitive, misunderstood mouse-clicking as dragging tab; the over-sensitive dragging seems to affect webpages as well, as noted in dragging of images into collections box in deviantart.com 2) random crashes, most frequently noticed after closing a tab/selecting items from drop-down box 3) slow drop-down box using Fujitsu TabletPC T2010 on Windows Vista 32bit Business. It was not long before some one knocked at the house-door and called, open the door, dear children, your mother is here, and has brought something back with her for each of you. But the little kids knew that it was the wolf, by the rough voice. We will not open the door, cried they, you are not our mother.
She has a soft, pleasant voice, but your voice is rough, you are the wolf. Then the wolf went away to a shopkeeper and bought himself a great lump of chalk, ate this and made his voice soft with it. The he came back, knocked at the door of the house, and called, open the door, dear children, your mother is here and has brought something back with her for each of you. A slim, wide-eyed woman almost human in features eyed the pair. Her nose was sharp, but very elegant.
She had a pale, beautiful face the color of ivory, and for hair she wore a wondrous mane of downy feathers. Her gown fluttered as she walked—on two delicate but still sharply-taloned feet.
“Awake, awake you are,” she said with a slight frown. “You should rest, rest.” Krasus bowed to her. “I am grateful for your hospitality, mistress, but I am well enough to continue on now.” She cocked her head as a bird might, giving the mage a reproving look. “No, notoo soon, too soon.
Please, sit.” The duo looked around and discovered that two chairs, made in the same fashion as the nest, waited behind them. Malfurion waited for Krasus, who finally nodded and sat. WoW shares many of its features with previously launched games.
