John Allen Muhammad The one-time Tacoma resident and Army veteran has appealed the death sentence he received for his role in a 2002 sniper spree that terrorized the Washington, D.C., area. Muhammad and an accomplice, Lee Boyd Malvo, have been linked to 21 shootings in all, including 14 deaths in D.C., Virginia, Maryland, Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana and Washington state.
