Rokko Chan Flash Game
As we bid good riddance to a rather disappointing year, indie developer King dashes onto the scene to end 2011 on a great note. The Japanese team has delivered an authentic and ridiculously enchanting Mega Man parody called Rokko Chan, a. Rokko Chan is a parody in every sense of the word. Players take on the role of the titular Rokko, a female robot created by Dr.
Rokko Chan (PC, Flash). The game is availible here. It's a very well done Mega Man homage. I've always had the desire to map a Mega Man game, so I figured that. Rokko Chan is a Flash Game in faithful homage to the Mega Man franchise, specifically the classic games (with some elements from the X series thrown in).
Sane, who ventures forth to put a stop to the evil ambitions of Dr. You'll do battle with six robot villains, each with a -man motif, charge through gaping corridors, hop across vanishing platforms, and catch yourself from a spikey doom by the skin of your teeth. Rokko Chan is the hardcore Mega Man game you've been craving all year long. Although 8-bit styled in presentation, Rokko Chan successfully integrates classic and a smidgen of X gameplay into a polished package.
The game even pools mechanics from other classic platformers, like Super Castlevania IV's famous rotating room. There's a boatload of other unexpected surprises, but giving them away would dishonor the experience. Rokko Chan is nothing short of charming. King has successfully produced a platformer that rivals the official games.
It's essentially Mega Man 11 in spirit. There's a lot more to be said, but really, it's better if you give the game a spin yourself. UPDATE: Reader Kirak took the liberty of ripping and compiling the game's soundtrack in its entirety.
Wow, this is extremely impressive. Second Anonymous got it right.
This fellow can obviously code, sprite and create music at a master level. Pardon my language, but it's a fucking embarrassment that Capcom, a whole company composed of many teams, can't make something half as good. They have to toss their games to other companies like IntiCreates or CyberConnect2. I thank the creator for gifting the Mega Man community with this incredible game.
As Xin Yu works hard to prove herself, she falls in love with the tea garden chairman’s oldest son, Tang Zheng Hao (Zhu Zi Yao), who also works in the garden. But after watching a show by tea master Afei, Xin Yu’s love of tea art is revived and she sneaks into Zhuo Qing Garden to take the qualification test to become Afei’s disciple. Zheng Hao’s younger half-brother, Cheng Feng (Dai Yang Tian), also falls for Xin Yu, which further fractures the brothers’ already contentious relationship. District 36 aa. Di Yi Rou (Wang Di) has always loved Zheng Hao and will do anything to make Xin Yu fail after seeing Zheng Hao’s heart taken away from her.
I'll be playing it often. Just another wonderful fan game for the collection. I clicked there. I played it now. And I recorded the whole thing. And I enjoyed the hell out of the entire game! This game emulates the series to a tee!
The only major differences are that Rokko jumps higher (2-3 times higher!) than Mega Man, dashes instead of slides (like Bass), jumps lower when dash-jumping ( unlike Bass), and is a girl. An adorable little robot girl with a strong sense of justice!
Kind of like an alternate-universe version of Roll. XD Also, this is definitely not a parody game. It's a tribute through and through! There's no blatant 'This is funny in Mega Man' items or anything, but there are a lot of gameplay elements carried over, like shielded enemies that become vulnerable when shooting, or the whole 'rock-paper-scissors' style of weaknesses!
The closest thing to a parody would be the intro, in which Rokko just says 'Bye dad, I know I was just activated, but I'm off to save the world now!' Which is admittedly pretty darn funny.
All and all, this is as Protodude said: 'essentially Mega Man 11' (but with some minor differences). It even has unlockables after you beat the game and whatnot! It's a damn fine game. King Soukutu should be very proud! Gameplay is solid as expected, dash is a minor fancy slide upgrade, some weapons like V. Cannon and F. Whip could use having less energy consumption.
Jump height is huuuueg (double Mega's), but chasms are as well. Sometimes, dash doesn't work, which made me wonder if this is why MM10 Bass players were forced to double tap /. So, I tried downloading that 'Joy2Key' program, and I wasn't having much luck getting that to run correctly.
Then, I read the comment about there being customizable controls in the options, which was odd, because I'm sure it wasn't there the last time I checked. Regardless, I double-checked, and to my surprise, it was actually there! Thank God for that. I was on the verge of giving up on it entirely. So, anyway, about the game itself. It's pretty good, as I said above. It's very faithful to the NES and WiiWare/XBLA/PSN titles; graphics-wise, music-wise, and gameplay-wise.
It could definitely be passed off as Mega Man 11, but with a few changes, such as: -Changing the characters.A different plot (since it's too similar to Mega Man 1's).Add two more Robot Master stages and weapons.Alter the jump height.Change the dash into a slide (or remove it, if you want to go the Mega Man 9 and 10 route).Add a the Rush Coil.Add Proto Man and Bass.Add bolts and a shop.Add Mystery and Weapons tanks.Downloadable content (including Duo as a playable character).Intro and intermission stages (like Mega Man 7, 8, and the X series). Then it would be all set. WanderingMind Now that I've finished the game, I can safely say - excellent job all around. Difficult but never unfair (almost - the spike shaft in Mad stage 2 verged on it), great stage gimmicks and design. Owata mode is hilarious (for a little while, at least - I'm not enough of a masochist to play the full game with it on).

If they really wanted to capture the feel of a true MM11, I think some of the weapons could be more creative (the Lightning Flash in particular and possibly the Ice Shield), but overall this is great. PS - A3 B2 C1 C4 D2 D4 E4, for those of you who're having trouble beating it.
The version numbers in the first post refer to the maps I've made. They do not refer to the version of the game. All of my maps are made with the latest version of the game. If there is a specific error in any of my maps, please notify me. Here's a new stage: I also made a minor update to Volcano Man (adding the art from the credits). Check the first post for more details. Next up will probably be Jet Man.

I have that almost all the way done, but I just need to figure out what to do with the moving platforms.
